Yandex Telemost not working? What to check and how to move the meeting in a minute
Yandex Telemost tends to stop working at the worst moment: the meeting is scheduled, the link is sent, and the page keeps spinning or will not let anyone in. There are two possible causes: an outage on the service side, or something on your device. Here is how to tell them apart in a couple of minutes, and what to do if you cannot wait.
Save the meeting first
If the meeting starts in a few minutes, do not spend them on troubleshooting. Move the meeting and investigate later:
- Open joyin.uz and click "Create a meeting". No account is needed, the link appears right away.
- Send the link to the same chat or email thread where the Telemost link was.
- Participants open it in a browser on a phone or computer, type a name and join. Nothing to install.
It takes less than a minute. The meeting has no time limit, holds up to 100 participants, and includes screen sharing, chat with files and recording. When Telemost is back you can return to it, or stay.
How to tell an outage from a local problem
Check in this order, fastest first:
- Ask a second participant. If a colleague in another city on another provider sees the same thing, it is not you.
- Open the meeting on your phone over mobile data. If it works, your home or office network is the cause. If it does not, the service is probably down.
- Look at an outage tracker. A spike in reports over the last hour is visible at a glance.
- Check other Yandex services. Telemost runs on shared infrastructure, and sign-in problems often affect Mail, Disk and Telemost together.
If the outage is general, there is nothing to fix on your side. You either wait or move the meeting.
If the problem is on your side
When it works for everyone else, the cause is usually one of these:
- The browser has no access to the camera and microphone. Click the lock icon in the address bar, allow both, then reload the page.
- Another app is holding the camera. Close Zoom, Skype and tabs with other calls.
- A corporate network or VPN is in the way. Turn the VPN off and try mobile data. Office firewalls sometimes block video traffic.
- The browser or app is out of date. Update and restart.
- You cannot sign in. Creating a Telemost meeting requires a Yandex account, so sign-in trouble blocks the host too.

Recording in Telemost: worth knowing in advance
Some "Telemost is not working" complaints are really about recording. According to Yandex help pages, a meeting is recorded to the participant's device, with conditions:
- in Yandex Browser and the desktop app, recording length is unlimited;
- in Google Chrome a recording cannot be longer than 30 minutes;
- in Mozilla Firefox recording is not available;
- the mobile app does not record;
- if the person who started the recording leaves the call or closes the window, recording stops.
If the recording matters (a lesson, an interview, a meeting with decisions), check this before the meeting. In Joyin recording runs on the server: one button in any browser, and the finished file appears in the host's dashboard. The host needs an account for recordings, guests do not.
Why keep a backup service
Outages happen to everyone: Yandex, Zoom, Google. The question is not who is more reliable, but whether you have a plan when your main tool goes down five minutes before a lesson or a meeting.
A good backup meets three conditions:
- No account required. Otherwise you will be signing up and confirming an email during the outage.
- No install for guests. Nobody installs new software for a single meeting.
- Different infrastructure. A backup from the same company goes down together with the main one.
Joyin meets all three: a meeting is created without registration, guests join from the browser, and the servers are independent from Yandex. Bookmark the page now, and next time the switch takes thirty seconds.

FAQ
Why is Telemost not working today? Either a general outage or a local cause: network, browser, camera access. Quick test: open the meeting on your phone over mobile data and ask a second participant.
What if the meeting starts in five minutes? Create a meeting in another service and send the new link to the same place as the old one. In Joyin it takes less than a minute and needs no sign-up.
Do participants need to install anything? No. A Joyin link opens in the browser on phones and computers. iOS and Android apps exist but are optional.
Where is the recording stored? In Telemost the recording is saved as a file on the computer of the person who started it, and it stops when they leave. In Joyin recording runs on the server, the file appears in the host's dashboard and can be shared by link.
Is it free? Yes. Joyin meetings are free and have no time limit.
Do not wait for the fix: open joyin.uz, create a meeting and send the link.
